The goal of the Electro-Intrusion project will be achieved by the joint effort of a multi-disciplinary team involving researchers of several European academic and research institutions, as well as a pioneering company in the field of automotive components. The expertise of the Electro-Intrusion team encompasses physics, material sciences, chemistry and in engineering.

CIC energiGUNE (Spain)

logo_CIC

CIC energiGUNE research center focuses on materials and systems for thermal and electrochemical energy-related applications. CIC energiGUNE leads the WP2 on the investigation of liquid-solid contact triboelectrification during intrusion/extrusion in/from non-wettable solid. It also  contributes to the WP3 dedicated to the investigation of heat of intrusion/extrusion to maximize electrical energy output. This will be achieved using custom high-pressure equipment allowing the simultaneous recording of pressure, volume, temperature and generated current during the intrusion-extrusion. State-of-the-art facilities available at the CIC energiGUNE will also help characterizing the materials: facilities for various types of microscopies (TEM, SEM, AFM), diffraction (XRD, SAXS) and spectroscopies (EDX, FTIR, Raman, XPS);  solid and solution NMR, thermal analysis (TG, DSC), rheometry, STA, LFA, and more.

Finally, CIC energiGUNE will apply its longstanding experience in EU projects for the overall coordination of the Electro-intrusion..

The University of Ferrara (Italy)

logo_unifeUniversity of Ferrara (Unife) established in 1391 by the Marquis Alberto V d’Este, is one of the oldest universities in Italy. Unife has about 23000 undergraduate students in all areas of sciences, 596 permanent academic staff and 336 PhD students.

The Unife team will be based at the Laboratory of Materials Modeling and Simulations – LMMS and will focus on the modeling of thermal effects as well as triboelectrification during intrusion/extrusion using state of the art classical and ab initio simulations. In particular, so-called rare event techniques and multiscale modeling approaches will be used to bridge disparate time and space scales characterizing the processes at the basis of the Eelectro-Intrusion project.

National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyi Polytechnic Institute" (Ukraine)

logo_ukraine

The Igor Sikorsky Kyi Polytechnic Institute - KPI was founded in 1898 and over the period of its existence it has trained 370 thousand of specialists. KPI ranks among 4% world best universities according to QS and Webometrics.

Thanks to the experience of the Laboratory of Thermomolecular Energetics on thermomolecular devices for the energy accumulation transformation and dissipation (bumpers, shock absorbers, executive mechanisms, anti-vibration systems), the KPI team will lead the design and optimization of the regenerative nanotriboelectrification shock-absorber and will contribute in characterizing and testing the stability of porous materials and non-wetting liquids to be employed in the device.

The University of Silesia (Poland)

logo_silesiaThe University of Silesia, established in 1968, from its humble beginnings as an idea in 1921. It is now one of the Poland’s leading universities providing quality education and creative background to develop new technologies and train tomorrow’s leaders.
The team from the UoS, will contribute their equipment and skill to evaluate the thermophysical properties of solid materials and liquids under high-pressure (range 0-650 MPa) and high-temperature (80 to 400 °C) conditions. In addition the team will characterize the surface properties of liquids and mixtures, such as the interfacial surface tension, surface entropy and contact angle, which will help to optimize the system for energy conversion.
